Roof repairs in Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil

A small roof fault can turn into damp ceilings and rotten timber if it is left. A repair starts with finding where water is really getting in, which is often some distance from the stain you can see indoors.

Draft scope: owner must confirm this service, its materials and exclusions before launch.

Who this is for

Homeowners with a leak, slipped or cracked tiles or slates, loose ridge or hip tiles, or failed flashings around chimneys and walls.

Signs you may need it

  • Damp patches or drips in a ceiling, especially after heavy rain
  • Tiles or slates visible in the garden or on a lean-to
  • Moss or debris blocking valleys and gutters
  • Cement or mortar crumbling at the ridge or chimney
  • Daylight visible in the loft

What is included

  • Inspection to trace the source of a leak
  • Replacing individual broken or missing tiles and slates
  • Re-bedding or re-fixing ridge and hip tiles
  • Repairing or renewing flashings and valleys
  • Clearing blocked valleys and local gutter issues

What is not included

  • Complete re-roofs (see new roofs)
  • Structural timber repair beyond minor local work, which is quoted separately
  • Specialist work on listed or protected buildings unless agreed in writing

Options and materials

  • Like-for-like replacement. Matching existing tile or slate where a match is available; older roofs can be hard to match exactly.
  • Local repair versus larger repair. If many fixings have failed, patching can cost more over time than renewing a section. We will explain the trade-off.

How the job runs

  1. Enquiry. Tell us what you can see and where the property is. Photos help but are not required at this stage.
  2. Site assessment. We look at the roof from ground level and, where it is safe and sensible, up close, then explain what we found.
  3. Written quote. You receive the scope, materials and price in writing so you can compare it like for like.
  4. Preparation and work. Access, protection of the surrounding area and timing are agreed before work begins.
  5. Handover. We walk through what was done, tidy up and remove waste. Ask us for any paperwork you need.

What affects the cost

We do not publish fixed prices because every property differs. The main factors are:

  • Height and access, including scaffold or access tower needs
  • Number of areas affected
  • Availability of matching tiles or slates
  • Condition of the timber underneath
  • Whether the fault is simple or hidden

Price guidance

We only publish prices the owner has approved, and none are published for this service yet. Every quote is based on the factors above.

Access, disruption and weather

  • Most repairs are done from outside with little disruption indoors.
  • Wet, icy or very windy weather can delay roof work for safety. Dates are therefore agreed as an expectation, not a fixed promise.
  • Tell us about neighbours’ access or shared walls early.

Questions

Can you repair a leak in an emergency?

Availability for urgent or out-of-hours work is something the business will confirm. Use the contact form or phone and we will tell you what is realistic.

Do I need a whole new roof?

Not necessarily. Isolated damage is often repairable. A roof with widespread slipped fixings, or failed underlay across large areas, may be better replaced. We aim to explain which applies to you.

Will you give a price over the phone?

Roof faults rarely price accurately without a look. We would rather assess first so the quote reflects the real problem.
